The short answers.

What counts as an update?
One run that reads the commits since the last run and writes the release draft, whether you asked for it or a daily schedule did. Approving, editing and publishing never count.
Who pays for the AI?
We do. The price includes the models that read your commits and write the release. There is no token meter and nothing to configure.
What happens when Free runs out?
Your page stays online and everything you published stays published. New updates wait for the first of next month, or for an upgrade.
Can I cancel?
Any time, from the billing portal. Pro stays active until the end of the paid month, then the workspace returns to the Free limits without deleting anything.
Do you read my code?
The GitHub App is read-only and limited to the repositories you select. Commit messages, pull requests and issues are read; the diff of a commit is read only when you allow it per repository.
